Spring Screaming
I'm taking advantage of a break between book jobs to do some much needed studio cleaning and organization. I really dislike dirt and dust, but it's amazing what gathers when you're not looking. It's been suggested to me I should hire someone to clean my space since I am so busy, but I don't think that's a good idea. I get froggy when someone comes into my studio and starts moving things around. I don't mind. Cleaning is cathartic for me anyway and helps me get organized. There is one thing, however, that I dislike more than dust and that is spiders. If I come across one while I'm cleaning, my entire neighborhood will know it. I've been known to break world records in the vertical jump and gasp. What makes it so horrible is that I can't squish them! It makes me gag. I have to somehow wrangle them outside.
Wish me luck!

Use a very large glass or mason jar to capture them. Plonk it on top, then slide a thin piece of card underneath, then flip it over, take it outside a very long way from the house and toss it forward away from you. You can take the card off of the top if you keep swirling the jar/glass in a circular motion as you walk from your studio to the designated toss area, this stops him from climbing up the side.
ReplyDeleteHave fun cleaning your studio!
Thanks Len! I've already found one on the patio since I typed this post. I think my scream gave him a coronary.
ReplyDeleteHad a Black Widow land on my shirt once...I'm surprised you didn't hear me scream all the way out there in Northern CA!
ReplyDeleteLoL David!!!! I thought I heard something, but I assumed it was the lunchtime whistle at the factory!
ReplyDeleteYou're all a bunch of wusses! LOL! I eat spiders for lunch...they're my friends. (course I said that about fire ants when I was 4 years old. My brother rolled his eyes and went to get my mom cuz I was standing in the ant bed.) That learnt me.
